Mr Johnson is a practicing attorney serving in an Of Counsel capacity with the general practice law firm Bozeman, Trott & Savage, where he specializes in entertainment and tax law. He is a member of the Bars of New York and the District of Columbia as well as a participant in the Entertainment Law Forum of the American Bar Association and a tenured faculty member of the Academic Division of the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America. Additionally, he is the principal owner and director of his own artist management company, UNDERGROUND SOUND ARTIST MANAGEMENT.
Mr. Johnsons practice includes significant prior experience in the Office of the General Counsel at the National Endowment for the Arts, where he specialized in the areas of arts law, government practice, and intellectual property matters. Since 1984 he has represented a wide spectrum of talent and industry entities including musicians, composers, producers, independent labels and artist management companies among others. Subject matter has ranged from the negotiation of recording, management, distribution and performance contracts to music publishing administration and public performance rights.
Mr. Johnson is a frequent lecturer and panelist on legal and business issues in the music industry. Mr. Johnson received an A.B. in economics from Columbia College in 1974 and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1978.
